‘Fortnite’ Chapter 3 officially debuts with a new island and revamped gameplay

It didn’t take long for Epic to confirm Fortnite Chapter 3 details. The developer has officially released a trailer that outlines what to expect both in Chapter 3 and its first season, “Flipped.” The new island is the star, with the flip from the Chapter 2 finale leading to a complete landscape overhaul that includes chaotic weather. However, the gameplay changes are arguably more important — you’ll have to rethink your tactics.

The sliding and swinging mechanics should help you move (and dodge) faster than before. Camps help your squad heal and store items that persist between matches. You can also earn XP beyond battle royale, and hold on to a Victory Crown if you keep winning. Epic is clearly hoping to both foster a non-combat metaverse and keep its top-tier players coming back.

And yes, there are new characters. Spider-Man is well-suited to the new swinging mechanic, but you can also play as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Fortnite character The Foundation, or Gears of War‘s Marcus and Kait. Think of them as the poster children for Chapter 3. They may help draw you in, but it’s the fresh gameplay that might keep you playing in the long run.

All Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 1 Quests

As part of Fortnite chapter 3, a new challenge system has emerged. While it’s fundamentally similar to past iterations, it’s presented in a different format than before. All the quests will appear in-game as the season goes on. This is a slight change from before, which required you to visit specific NPCs on the map to begin quests. You’ll still find character quests, but this time, they simply show up from the Quests screen automatically.

Each week, more seasonal quests will be added, functioning the same way as older versions of Fortnite. Here, we’ll compile a list of all the ongoing challenges, with links to guides for completing them. These are the latest Fortnite quests for chapter 3, season 1.

Season 1, week 1 quests

The week 1 quests are generally straightforward and likely won’t cause too much trouble if you’re a frequent player. Many of them are tied to new mechanics and features such as damaging 50 opponents while sliding and visiting the Daily Bugle. You’ll want to be aware of the new Vaults, which require multiple players to open. But doing so is worth it, as they contain lots of goodies.

Below are the week 1 quests:

  • Discover The Device (1)
  • Damage Opponents While Sliding (50)
  • Jump Through Flaming Rings in a Vehicle (2)
  • Search Chests or Ammo Boxes at Landmarks (10)
  • Land at The Daily Bugle, then Finish Top 25 (1)
  • Open a Vault with Another Player (1)
  • Get Eliminations with an SMG or Sniper Rifle (3)
  • Discover Named Locations (10)
  • Receive Your Next Objective at The Launchpad (1) and Destroy Signal Jammers in a Single Match (3)
  • Receive Your Next Objective at Mighty Monument (1) and Place Surveillance Cameras in a Single Match (2)
  • Receive Your Next Objective in The Joneses (1) and Drop Off Supplies in a Single Match (3)

Shanta quests

Shanta in Fortnite.

The first character quest available comes from Shanta, and it’s an absolute collect-a-thon. To complete these quests, you need to collect nearly 100 crystals that are hidden around the map. Shanta’s quests are broken up into different sections that send you to various locations on the island.

We’ll have guides on where to find them below.

  • Collect Gem Fragments Outside of Seven Vaults (6)
  • Collect Gem Fragments at Gas Stations (6)
  • Collect Gem Fragments on Crossroads Using a Vehicle (9)
  • Collect Gem Fragments at Landmarks (10)
  • Collect Gem Fragments at Named Locations (10)
  • Excavate Gem Fragments Inside Dirt Mounds (8)
  • Collect Gem Fragments at Named Locations (10)
  • Collect Gem Fragments on Rivers Using a Vehicle (9)
  • Collect Gem Fragments Near Characters (10)
  • Collect Gem Fragments at Docks (7)
  • Collect Gem Fragments High in the Air (6)

This list will expand as more quests are added to the game throughout the duration of the season.

Epic’s latest Fortnite teaser all but confirms entirely new Chapter 3 map

Epic Games has kicked off Black Friday by dropping a new Fortnite Chapter 3 teaser, one that all but confirms players will, indeed, drop onto an entirely new map once the current season ends. Rumors about the new map have been circulating for a while, but the first real indication came from Epic itself with the Chapter 3 announcement.

Epic Games/YouTube

Following rumors about a big change, Epic confirmed that Fortnite‘s current season will be the last in the game’s second chapter, meaning next month will bring the big Chapter 3 update. The announcement was made in a teaser trailer, which the company followed up with another tweet today.

To properly understand the new tweet, you should first check out Epic’s teaser trailer: it ends with the name for this finale, “The End.” Players noted that when flipped upside down, “The End” shows what appears to be Steamy Stacks and a large mountain or volcano.

Image: Fortnite/Epic Games

The decision to place the landscape silhouette underside down doesn’t seem to be a mere style choice. Fans have been speculating that Chapter 3 will essentially “flip” the battle royale island, bringing the fight to the other side. Assuming that does take place, it raises new questions.

Will the map get a full overhaul, or will it be a mirrored version of the current map with smaller changes throughout? Given complaints from players that the current chapter is starting to feel stale, it seems reasonable that Epic would overhaul the island.

The company seemingly reinforces that speculation with its new tweet, indicating that once Chapter 3 arrives, Fortnite players will get an entirely new experience akin to when they first played Fortnite. The big change will be ushered in by the Chapter 2 – Season 8 finale scheduled for December 4 at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET.

Popular Fortnite data-miner and leaker HYPEX claims in a recent tweet that the Season 8 finale will result in another “black hole,” which is a placeholder that persists for a few days while Epic updates Fortnite with major changes. Should the leak prove true, the black hole will disappear and Chapter 3 will arrive on December 7.

HYPEX goes on to claim that the sources who provided this information have “never” been wrong in the past. The account also indicates that it knows more about Chapter 3 than it has revealed, saying the next chapter is “SOO good.” Epic says Chapter 2 will end with players battling the Cube Queen and whatever she has planned in a one-time in-game event on December 4.

‘Fortnite’ Chapter 2 will end with a big in-game event on December 4th

It seems big changes are coming to  soon. Chapter 2, which started all the way back , will wrap up with a one-time-only in-game event called The End at 4PM ET on December 4th.

“With The Convergence complete, The Cube Queen prepares her endgame for the Island and nothing will ever be the same,” Epic Games . “Grab your weapons and fight the ultimate destroyer of all reality.”

The Chapter 1-closing event was also named The End and it . Fortnite was offline for a few days before Chapter 2 . Among other updates, Epic also brought in a fresh user interface and new mechanics in Chapter 2. Given that the publisher says players will battle The Cube Queen “in one last stand for the fate of the Island” and that nothing will seemingly be the same, it seems likely more major changes are coming to the battle royale in the near future.

If you have any Bars or Battle Stars, use them before the end of the season, since they won’t carry over to Chapter 3. Starting on November 30th, character services and exotic item trades will be discounted in Bargain Bin Week. Fortnite will automatically redeem unused Battle Stars for the earliest available rewards. If you have any remaining quests you want to complete, now might be the time to do that.

Squads of up to 16 players will be able to experience The End together. The event playlist will open at 3:30PM, so it’s probably worth joining early to secure a spot. Meanwhile, since Epic is ending the season a day earlier than planned, everyone who logs into Fortnite before it wraps up will receive a 225,000 XP bonus. Those who take part in the event will unlock a special Loading Screen and Wrap too.

Fortnite Season 8 The End date and countdown leading to Chapter 3

After months of working through the various Seasons in Fortnite Chapter 2, it looks like everything is about to come to an end. Epic Games has confirmed that Season 8 will be the last one for Chapter 2, so when that ends, so too will the whole Chapter. Presumably, we’re going to see a massive change to Fortnite‘s map in the transition to Chapter 3, but what those changes haven’t been revealed yet.

One-time in-game event slated for December

Just as the rumors foretold, December will indeed be a big month for Fortnite. As Epic announced today on the Fortnite website, there will be an in-game event called “The End” going down on December 4th at 4 PM EST that will wrap up Fortnite Chapter 2 and presumably bring us into Fortnite Chapter 3. Epic says that it will only run this event once, so if you want to revisit it at a later date, you should record it and save the video.

Epic is also opening up the floodgates in terms of max party size, saying that players will be able to queue into The End event with up to 16 players in their party. So, if you have a big circle of friends that plays Fortnite, you’ll be able to check out this event together and in the same party (assuming, of course, that your circle of Fortnite-playing friends is no larger than 16 people).

There are some things to keep in mind about this Chapter 2 finale, aside from the fact that it will only be run once. Epic says that the playlist will go live 30 minutes before the event is set to begin, so you and your friends will be able to get into the game starting at 3:30 PM EST on the 4th. You also won’t be able to change your video settings after joining, so be sure to make any tweaks you may want before queuing for The End.

What to do before The End

Epic also detailed what players should finish up in Season 8 before The End takes place on December 4th. Players are told to complete the Cube Queen’s page 1 and 2 quests, collect any remaining color bottles and rainbow ink to unlock new Toona Fish styles, and exchange any Battle Stars they might have for rewards.

Once Season 8 ends, Epic says that Battle Stars will “be automatically redeemed for the earliest available rewards.” You’ll need to acquire the Toona Fish styles you want manually, though, as there will be no automatic redemption of rainbow ink and color bottles.

In addition to all of this, Epic will be hosting a Power Leveling Weekend this week. It kicks off on November 26th at 7 PM EST and runs through November 29th at 7 AM EST. Players who log in between now and the end of Season 8 will also get a bulk 225,000 XP reward, so that and the double XP weekend should help you complete those lingering quests.

What can we expect in the aftermath of The End? No one really knows for sure, but according to Fortnite Intel on Twitter, there’s some suggestion that it could have something to do with Steamy Stacks. The map underwent a pretty dramatic transformation in the switch from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2, so we’re expecting a similarly big event leading up to Chapter 3. We’ll find out soon enough, as The End is slated to go down on December 4th.

Fortnite Chapter 3: Clear your calendar for December

The month of December will be monstrous for Fortnite gamers at all levels. Clues currently point toward a series of events that’ll blast us through some of the most major brands and characters from long-awaited franchise crossovers, like Naruto and Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett. We might also very well see the destruction of the map, with bombs, with a whole lot of water, flooding, and a real “slippery feet” sort of situation as we transition into the future.

Event spoilers from sources like FNBRintel suggest we’re on the verge of a major sea change, of sorts. We’re seeing “Breach Lens” with a wave, surface, and “escape transition.” We’re seeing terms like “Catchup PreTeleport” for “players before they are teleported using the catchup mechanic,” and “sideways spawn FX” that’ll be shown “every time sideways spawner spawns new creature.”

It’s possible that the final event will begin on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 9:20 PM. That’s the end of the Taxi Banner, anyway – and it’d fit right inside speculation and rumors suggesting the start of Season 3 and the release dates as such.

UPDATE: To be clear, we’re looking at a Blackhole event – transition – on the 5th and 6th, and an event start on the 7th. In any case, the island is destabilizing, and everything is about to get wacky.

The month of December will also play host to a release of new skins and such for Spider-Man: No Way Home and Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett. The release of Spider-Man: No Way Home is set for December 17, 2021 in theaters, while The Book of Boba Fett will be released on Disney+ on December 29, 2021. As is generally the case, Fortnite will see the release of these characters just before their arrival on the big (or small) screen – Boba Fett will appear in Fortnite on December 24, 2021, at 7PM ET.

Four years after Monument Valley 2 hit and , Ustwo Games has added a new chapter. The developer “The Lost Forest” as its contribution to Playing for the Planet’s Green Game Jam, which promotes tree conservation.

The goal is to work with major names in gaming to highlight the “importance of conserving and restoring forests.”

“Our forests, one of our best allies in fighting the climate emergency, are facing mounting threats,” the Play4Forests website reads. “Your voice can help secure a better future for forests and humans.”

It might initially seem unusual to bring extra content to a game like Monument Valley 2 four years later, but there’s an admirable reason in this particular case. Tiny Wings, a popular iOS title from a decade ago, , so such a long gap between a mobile game’s release and more content isn’t exactly unheard of.

Fortnite Graphics Upgrade Is Coming With Chapter 2 Season 7

Fortnite’s upcoming Chapter 2 – Season 7 v17.00 update isn’t just bringing new features to the game. The Fortnite team announced that this new update will upgrade the visuals of the game for machines that meet the update’s system requirements.

Fortnite is a battle royale that most people are aware of by now. It has been through various versions after many updates and it seems that Season 7 is introducing one of the biggest yet.

In a blog post that details the upcoming visual changes, developer Epic confirmed that it would present players with enhanced effects, improved postprocessing features, and shadow quality. The blog goes into detail bringing up how explosion, fire, and slurp effects would be “cooler-looking” thanks to the bump in visuals.

These upgrades mean that the settings of the “Epic” graphical mode will require higher performance power in order to run optimally, with the “High” settings becoming the pre-v17.00 Epic settings. For those that play Fortnite on low and medium settings, those modes will remain the same with the release of the v17.00 update.

Epic Game confirmed that this new Season 7 update would be rolling out on Tuesday, June 8. The theme of this new season is teased to be an alien invasion. A promo video featuring the ominous words ‘They’re Coming’ currently appears on the Fortnite website.

Many teases for this alien invasion theme have popped up in the game itself as of late. Some Easter eggs have been placed throughout maps, with some players even being abducted by aliens at random locations.

Epic just shared some major teasers about Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 6

Fortnite‘s Chapter 2 – Season 5 has nearly reached its end, meaning we’re only days away from the launch of the game’s Chapter 2 – Season 6. Epic recently took to the official Fortnite Twitter account to share details about its plans in a tweet thread, including the official Season 6 start date and what you can expect from the Season 5 finale.

First things first: If you want the Fortnite Season 5 finale to be a total surprise, you should stop reading now to avoid any minor spoilers. With that said, Epic has only provided a vague idea of what it has planned, so there isn’t much to be spoiled at this time.

The Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 5 finale will be ‘explosive,’ according to Epic’s new tweet thread. Following that event, the game’s sixth season will start on March 16, allowing players to ‘play through the culmination of Agent Jones’ mission in the Zero Crisis Finale.’

Epic notes that this will be a Solo experience and that players will be able to experience it whenever they log into the game for the first time in Season 6. If you want to have a more social experience, though, Epic says it will soon have details on an upcoming global premiere for the new season that players will be able to watch at the same time online.

Epic notes that you should spend your gold bars before the start of Season 6, but don’t worry, they’re not being removed — rather, your bars will reset to zero at the start of the next season. Want more details? Epic has elaborated on its tweet thread in a blog post on its website.

According to the company, this upcoming Zero Crisis event will be its ‘most ambitious story cinematic yet!’ Of course, you’ll also need to finish the current Battle Pass to get all of the rewards before Season 6 arrives. If you have any active quests, you’ll want to finish those by March 15, as well.
