Nintendo will host a ‘Xenoblade Chronicles 3’ Direct on June 22nd

It might not be the full-on Direct fans have been hoping for and expecting, but will host its next showcase on June 22nd at 10AM ET. The stream will focus on Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and will feature around 20 minutes of details on the long-awaited sequel.

Nintendo previously planned to release Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in September, but it to July 29th. now has that September slot. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 takes place after the events of the previous two mainline games, though it has a new cast of characters. This time around, developer Monolith Soft is bumping up the number of party members from three to seven.

As Sony with its State of Play series, Nintendo sometimes holds a Direct that’s dedicated to one game or franchise, such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or Pokémon. Nintendo opted not to run a full Direct — which typically includes looks at a variety of first- and third-party games — around the time . However, a full-fledged Direct is coming next week.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Comes West This Summer

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is coming to PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch worldwide on July 27, 2021, as confirmed by Capcom. This collection bundles The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures and its sequel The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve, previously which were only available in Japan.

Most notable about this series is that it does not star the famous Phoenix Wright, but rather his ancestor Ryunosuke Naruhodo, with events that take place around 100 years prior to the original Ace Attorney trilogy. Along the way, Naruhodo will encounter a series of characters including Kazuma Asogi, Susato Mikotoba, and of course, Herlock Sholmes (we aren’t kidding). One of this collection’s main differences is that it takes place in England, as opposed to Japan.

Although the setting and time period differ from what players might be used to, the sleuthing gameplay remains the same. Players will still need to evaluate crime scenes, cross-examine witnesses, and find holes in their stories to uncover the truth. Since this collection will be headed Westward, it will feature English subtitles, which is great for a non-Japanese speaking audience.

In contrast to the familiar Ace Attorney games of the past, players will need to work with the jury to persuade them one way or another in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. This collection also features a Story Mode, which allows users to simply watch the events of the narrative without having to investigate or press witnesses.

It’s worth mentioning that the worldwide release of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was previously leaked as part of last year’s ransomware attack on Capcom.

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles confirmed for worldwide release

Capcom today announced a new Ace Attorney compilation that will bundle together two titles in the series that have previously never been released outside of Japan. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is the name of this upcoming release, and as the title suggests, it will include both titles in the spin-off series The Great Ace Attorney. Fans have been waiting for these games to launch in the west for years, and they’ll get the chance to play them in just a couple of months.

More specifically, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles includes The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures and The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve. These are two of the more recent releases in the Ace Attorney series, and even though they’ve both been the subject of fan translations in the past, it seems that they’re finally getting proper localization from Capcom itself.

The Great Ace Attorney follows Ryunosuke Naruhodo, who is Phoenix Wright’s ancestor. The Great Ace Attorney titles are set 100 years before Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, so the cast of characters and setting will be new. Throughout the course of the game, Ryunosuke Naruhodo leaves Japan to defend clients in England, where the defense and prosecution have to argue their cases in front of not only a judge, but also a jury.

In between courtroom appearances, you’ll have to investigate crime scenes to gather evidence, and Capcom says that the Japanese text and script that appears on that evidence is supplemented with English subtitles. The company has also introduced a new story mode for those who want to experience the game without the stress of arguing in court or examining evidence, saying that the game “effectively plays itself” in this mode.

Add to that a collection of eight mini-episodes that are separate from the game’s 10 main story adventures, an art gallery that includes commentary from the art director himself, and an offering of videos and video clips, and it sounds like this a solid Ace Attorney compilation. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles launches on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam on July 27th.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s new Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fighter arrives next month

In addition to announcing new games and additions for the Switch, Nintendo revealed the next fighter that’ll arrive in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a two-character set from the title Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Starting next month, Smash players will be able to play as Mythra and Pyra, both of which will be added as a single fighter.

The latest Nintendo Direct took place today, revealing the big and small things Switch owners can expect over the coming weeks and months. There will, for example, be a new Mario Golf game for Nintendo Switch called Super Rush scheduled for release on June 25.

As expected, the company also introduced a new fighter for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and you’ll be able to get it sometime next month (Nintendo says it’ll be back with more details soon). The two characters are released as one fighter; players will be able to toggle between the two whenever they want.

You’ll be able to grab the fighter for $5.99 unless you have the latest Fighters Pass, which is priced at $29.99 USD and includes six characters, of which Pyra/Mythra makes number four. We’ve seen some other fighters arrive in this latest Fighters Pass cycle, including Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, Min Min from Arms, and Steve/Alex from Minecraft.
